Looking to spruce up the look of your home’s design?  A new floor can certainly do the trick. Should you choose bamboo or engineered wood flooring for your home, though?  Each one offers different benefits, but only one fit your needs perfectly.

Bamboo Flooring

Bamboo flooring is becoming more and more popular as a flooring choice, because it is an environmentally friendly option, is very durable, and is very cost effective.

Bamboo is 'green' because it is made from a type of grass that replenishes itself much more quickly than trees do, making it highly renewable.  Bamboo flooring is treated against moisture and insects, but not with harsh chemicals.

However, there are some challenges when it comes to bamboo flooring.  The downsides include the facts that it is not for high traffic areas so it cannot be installed throughout the entire home. Additionally, bamboo flooring should not be installed in areas that will be subject to too much moisture, such as bathrooms or even foyers.   Excess water will make the flooring warp or swell.

Engineered Wood Flooring

The benefits of engineered hardwood flooring are many.  This is real wood flooring that is built in layers and bonded together.   It gives you the real hardwood’s natural characteristics and beauty, along with multiple layers of high density fiberboard which will provide you with greater strength and stability than solid wood board flooring would.

This type of hardwood flooring is resistant to temperature changes and humidity, which makes it perfect for Florida weather. It can be installed anywhere, even areas like bathrooms and finished basements (both areas which are prone to moisture).

Engineered wood flooring can be refinished, just not as many times as genuine hardwood. It performs as well as solid wood and will last just as long.
