Palm Beach County is highlighting great beaches, breathtaking views and a high quality of life in an ad that they?re hoping will lure a new town manager.

Make the floors the star of your West Palm Beach home with hardwood flooring. With some strategy in color and undertones you, too, can highlight your rooms and views, and when it comes to hardwood flooring in West Palm Beach, go to the experts: Quantum Floors.

Basics first: Hardwood Flooring comes in three shades, dark, light and medium.

Dark hardwood flooring does add a layer of contrast and, depending upon the species, it has numerous undertones, be they red, orange, or brown. An added advantage is that if the dark hardwood flooring has a raised grain, that?s a feature in itself.

Accessories will also help you highlight and contrast, such as:

? A dark hardwood flooring with a large picture window overlooking a West Palm Beach water, or some greenery. The cool, creamy tones with the rich, warm floor. Oh, my!
? Dark floors with white upholstery and light wood tables.
? Dark floors with orange undertones and cream-colored or orange-toned upholstery. Snap! Crackle! Pop!

No doubt, the Florida weather is hot and humid and, now that the tropical storms have been firing up, there?s a lot of moisture. Not to worry! Just move the packaged boards into the room where the hardwood flooring will be installed. Open, and let wood ?sit? for at least three days (above the ground, please) so it can adjust to the room?s ?weather.?

Hardwood flooring does last for years, and it?s easy to maintain. Dry-mop or vacuum the floor to remove surface dirt and debris. For a more thorough cleaning, wipe with a damp mop, avoiding excess water, and going with the grain. After mopping, buff with a soft cloth, going with the grain of the wood in smooth strokes. As a cautionary reminder, always be sure to wipe up excess liquid, because standing water can damage wood surfaces. If the weather is humid, you may want to turn on fans or an air-conditioner for faster drying.
