Guide to Buying Engineered Hardwood Flooring

Guide to Buying Engineered Hardwood Flooring

Few major purchases will have a more dramatic effect on your home than new flooring. Your home?s floors determine the look and feel of each room. If you?re considering new engineered hardwood floors for your South Florida home, our flooring experts have all the answers for your questions. Let?s dive in and learn more about hardwood flooring.

Benefits of Engineered Hardwood Flooring
Hardwood flooring is the go to choice for a luxurious, high-end look in any home, regardless of decor. Let?s take a look at some of its benefits.

  • Engineered hardwood floors are super durable and can last for generations. In fact, for South Florida?s climate, we recommend engineered hardwood over solid hardwood.
  • Engineered hardwood is real wood!
  • The look of real hardwood is second to none.
  • Hardwood floors increase the value of your home. It?s also the #1 feature buyers look for.
  • Engineered hardwood floors are healthy and great for those suffering from allergies.
  • Hardwood floors are easy to maintain and clean.

Selecting a Professional Installer
Your new flooring will only be as good as the installation materials and craftsmanship that go into the installation. You want to make sure your installers are experienced with your particular type of flooring. Beware of companies that use third-party installers. Quantum Floors is proud to only use in-house installation teams.

  • Make sure your installers are licensed and insured. It?s easy to check by going to your county?s licensing website.
  • Use companies that have been in business for a while.
  • Check the online reviews for the installation company in several places. Your best bets are Google, Facebook and Yelp. Checking your local Better Business Bureau is also a great idea.

Cost of Hardwood Floors
The cost for your new hardwood floors varies depending on several factors.

  • The cost for the hardwood material can range from about $5 per square foot to as much as $20 per square foot. Many factors influence the costs of hardwood including wood species, plank size, plank thickness and the type of finish used.
  • Use the best installation materials you can. While you won?t see the glue or underlayment, it will have a major impact on your installation. For example, better glues for hardwood floors offer some waterproof and/or sound proofing properties you won?t find in cheap glues.
  • Don?t forget the transition pieces. A completed installation will require transition pieces where two different flooring materials meet, and in doorways, for example.
  • Your new engineered hardwood floors will need to be finished off properly with baseboards or quarter round. Baseboards, while slightly more expensive, are the perfect complement to hardwood floors.?
